What is a Saturn return?
A Saturn return is the moment Saturn comes back to the exact spot in the sky it occupied on the day you were born. It takes Saturn about 29.5 years to travel once around the zodiac, so the first return arrives in your late twenties, the second in your late fifties, and the third, if you live to meet it, in your late eighties.
It is a calendar event before it is anything else. Saturn is the planet of structure, time, commitment and consequence, so its return tends to land on the parts of life you have built: work, home, marriage, money, the promises you made to yourself when you were younger and less informed.

Why are there three dates?
Saturn does not always cross your natal degree once. From Earth, Saturn appears to slow, stop and travel backwards for roughly four and a half months each year. This is retrograde motion, an optical effect of our own orbit rather than anything Saturn is doing differently.
If a retrograde period happens to fall while Saturn is sitting on your natal degree, it crosses three times: once moving forward, once moving back, and once moving forward again for the final time. Those three passes can span nine or ten months. If the retrograde falls elsewhere, there is only one crossing and the return is quick and clean.
The second Saturn return
The second Saturn return, between roughly 56 and 60, is the one the internet forgets and the one that changes the most. The first return builds a life. The second asks whether the life you built is the one you want to keep carrying, and it asks with the authority of someone who has already survived one of these.

Do I need my birth time to calculate my Saturn return?
No. Saturn moves so slowly, roughly one degree every twelve days, that it barely shifts across a single day. A birth time would refine your natal Saturn position by a fraction of a degree, which changes your return dates by a day or two at most. Birth time matters for your rising sign and houses, not for this.
What if I do not know my exact birth date?
Use the closest date you are confident about and read the results as a window rather than a deadline. Being a few days out moves your return dates by a few days. Being a year out moves them by a year, so if the year itself is uncertain, calculate both years and treat the span between them as your return period.
How long does a Saturn return last?
